There is a website called New Electronics, while it doesn’t strictly teach you about making and modifying circuits it does contain a lot of news and technology articles about them, which you may find interesting.

Those are not video cameras (which capture information in digital format on tape) they are film cameras. They take a series of photographs and playback at the same speed, there are sufficient frames per second that the human eye is fooled into believing it is seeing seamless moving pictures. Video cameras did not exist commercially until the 1980s. Sound recording was possible in the 1930s but required heavy machinery impractical for use in a battle situation.

They didn't figure out live broadcasting until years later. Most of the sound effects you hear on those old films are actually just play-backs from recorded battlefields.

Any brand of SD or SDHC (high capacity SD) card will do, but make sure it’s fast enough. You’ll want a fairly fast card for optimum camera performance and for shooting movies, especially HD.
SDHC cards come in different speed classes (2, 4, 6 or 10).
Do not buy a standard speed (Class 2) card, as these are too slow. I recommend a fast Class 4 card (something like the Sandisk Ultra or Ultra II) or a Class 6 card.
Format the new card before you use it the first time…

You can get any SD card. The brand name of the SD doesn't really matter. Matter of fact there SDHC memory cards today. These are SD high capacity memory card. You Canon Elph can use both SD or SDHC memory card regardless of their brand name or manufacturer. Rohn

hit up 'allaboutcircuits.com' i am quite fond of that site. i am in school for it cuz i have access to equipment and hands on tutelage which is nice. but it can be done without school. also get yourself a copy of national instruments 'multisim'. its a software equivalent to a breadboard with all the components you will likely need. play around with that and build the circuits you read about online to tinker with them.

An SD card is an SD card. it doesn't matter the brand or where you get it but it MUST be SD

Start with simple circuits you get online and answer the questions about them in the material. DC circuits first then move to AC
